Broad-Side Shiraz Cabernet Malbec
Wine
Bleasdale Broad-Side Shiraz Cabernet Malbec, a variation on the classic Australian Shiraz Cabernet blend, draws from the Bleasdale estate vineyard and specialist Langhorne Creek growers.
'Broad-Side' is a nod to Lloyd Stanley (Sticky) Potts, the third generation of Potts at Bleasdale and a motorcycling enthusiast who came second at the 1932 Australian Grand Prix. The label shows him practicing his speedway 'Broad-Side' turns.
The Shiraz and Malbec grapes are destemmed while the Cabernet Sauvignon is crushed. During open fermentation, careful pump overs ensure balanced extraction of flavour and tannin. The wine remains on skins for 7-10 days, depending on the parcel.
Once pressed, the wine is settled for 24 hours before being racked to French oak puncheons for malolactic fermentation and maturation.
Red purple, Bleasdale Broad-Side Shiraz Cabernet Malbec has juicy black fruit characters, persistent length of flavour and smooth, velvety tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
